Interview with Davi Milsaps by Julia Parmer

-Orlando, Florida, Citrus Bowl Supercross, Round 5, SX Lites East

Davi Millsaps of American Honda, has had his bumps in his first two years in the AMA Pro ranks, but after a phenemonal amateur career, the potential is now a reality as the young racer currently holds a respectable 25 points lead in SX Lites East through round five, over second place Sobe /Samsung Mobile/Honda’s Josh Grant. Winning his heat race, and going on to second in the main behind Grant, Millsaps was kind enough to give Julia Parmer a few words after his heat race victory:

Julia: You were looking good at the heat race. How did you feel?

Millsaps: Actually I felt good. I got a good start, rode my own race and you know I'm a little slower than Grant but it's all the difference in the main.

Julia: The track's looking pretty tough for most of the riders, and a lot of them have been going down, what's the hardest part of the track for you?

Millsaps: I have to say some of the corners just because they're slippery and it looks sandy and it looks deep but it's like ice. I'm having trouble there and I don't know, it's just going to be hard.

Julia: Whenever you get caught behind the pack, what do you do? Do you follow their lines and try to make a safe pass or do you try to blow right by them?

Millsaps: I try to pass them as fast as I can. Sometimes I follow their lines just to see what their lines are and see if there are any better ones that they're taking that I'm not. I'm not really a dirty rider so I don't hit them or anything. I just try to get around them as fast as I can.

Julia: Do you feel comfortable with the point's lead you have right now?

Millsaps: No. I'm not really worried about the points right now and not worried about the championship right now. Just worried about taking it one race at a time and just riding the best I can. If someone's going to start playing dirty, I'm just going to have to do it back.

Julia: Any sponsors you'd like to thank?

Millsaps: [laughs] For sure. American Honda for giving me the opportunity to ride for them. No Fear, Oakley, and Arai and everyone that's been behind me a lot like my mechanic Carlos, his wife, my mom, and my whole family.

Julia: Thank you very much.

Millsaps: Your welcome and thank you.
